According to the CEO of KaiOS, a web based operating system for feature phones; to be successful, entrepreneurs need to fous on their overall goals and not get distracted. He said this during Afriscaper’s quarterly Executive Insights’ event held in Shanghai on November 1, 2018.
It was an evening to pick the mind of a very smart and savvy business person.
Afriscaper Research & Consulting organized it’s quarterly Executive Insights program and hosted Mr Sebastien Codeville, CEO of KaiOS Technologies.
The evening started off with a networking session and then moved to an interview session. Sebastien Codeville, CEO of KaiOS Technologies was interviewed by Debo Omololu, CEO of Afriscaper Research.
The interview delved into Sebastien’s childhood, education, work experience and his journey towards setting up the company, KaiOS. The discussion was lively with lots of laughs and applause from appreciative attendees.
The future of mobile devices
During the event, Sebastien explained that KaiOS’ goal is to be the leading web operating system. According to him, KaiOS is positioning itself to be a leading operating system for mobile devices and Internet of Things (IOT). He also spoke about the potential future impact of 5G.
Funding and Advice for entrepreneurs
For entrepreneurs, Sebastien shared from his experience on the importance on remaining focused and not delving into too many things at once. He shared how he was able to raise seed funding from his former employers, series A funding and how they intend to use an additional round of funding to boost KaiOS capabilities.
After the interview, it was the turn of the audience to interact directly with Sebastien and he did not disappoint. Questions ranging from why he chose to enter into the feature phone operating system market to his views on working in a Chinese organization after working in many ‘western’ multinationals. His answers were well received and sometimes witty.
